Number 20 : Svarta Oliver

I have to admit I am not a big fan of olives so coming to a restaurant named "The Black Olive" was something I was a bit cautious to do. However, after it had been recommended to me a few times I thought I would have to give it a go.

Grilled Halloumi marinated with peppers and ruccola salad starter

I thought the food was really well presented and the plate was very decorative. The food was extremely filling and after my starter and the complimentary bread I struggled to eat my main course, even though it was very nice. The menu was varied and catered for a wide variety of tastes and styles so it was refreshing to find dishes that you maybe would not find so often in other restaurants.

The restaurant interior was very earthy. Lots of dark woods and limited light coming in made it seem very enclosed and a long way away from the fresh and sunny day outside. There was a big open fire in the middle of the room and I can imagine that on a cold winters evening this place could be very cosy and appealing.
The service was professional and my food came quickly, no complaints in this department.

Number 19 : Beijing 8

Fom the website...

“Beijing8 is a dumplings & tea restaurant chain for slow fast food with an organic state of mind. We’re currently 8 restaurants in 2 country and serve 37 items on our menu. We also feature 8 portraits of our favorite creative Beijingers”

Which to be honest pretty much sums the experience up... The restaurant itself was very simple. Sleek, wooded furniture and limited decoration gave it a modern feel but also in some respects a cold one as well. The menu consists of dumplings that can be cooked in different ways and come with different sauces and extras. If you like dumplings then it is worth a visit, if you don’t then this place will not do much for you.

I wasn’t so impressed by the service. I didn’t really understand the menu and it seemed that it was an effort to have it explained for me. The rest of the time the staff were just chatting to each other or on the phone.
My food was nice though but to be honest if I want dumplings again I would probably go to a Chinese restaurant where you get more choice. If you want dumplings in a hurry or on a lunch break though then it is worth a try.

Number 18 : Fontana di Trevi

Utterly delicious… My experience at Fontana di Trevi was one that I definitely would like to try again. On walking through the building, I found myself in a secluded covered yard that was peaceful and tranquil with very much a feel of the Mediterranean.

The menu was varied and full and it was easy to find something to choose from. I selected a fresh asparagus risotto for my main course and it was nice blend of tastes. For starter I had mozzarella drizzled in oil and for my dessert I chose a small dish with fig and berries. The wine list was very exclusive and provided a good blend of Italian wines varying in price.

The service was professional and the waiter showed great pleasure and interest in talking about the food and wine. I like it when the waiter or waitress seems to care about the food they are serving you, it makes it feel like it is something special that has been prepared with both thought and attention. Sometimes it is also nice to be able to ask which wine compliments which dish, especially when choosing unfamiliar foods. The wine that was suggested to me certainly went well with my choice of food.

Number 17: Taras

Great food, excellent service and a nice dining environment. I enjoyed a really pleasant afternoon here at Taras. The sun was warm in the sky and it was delightful to sit under the shade of a magnolia tree and enjoy fine food and wine.

I sometimes can find Turkish food to be a bit hit or miss. I can however really recommend the food here. My main complaint is that sometimes the food can be on the dry side but this was certainly not the case at Taras. I chose to have a vegetarian dish consisting of 12 small portions and each one was very tasteful and complemented the other well.
The service was also exceptional. Not only was I made to feel welcome but each of the 12 portions were explained to me and all my questions answered.

I sat outside which was most pleasant. Indoors looked very smartly set out and I can imagine that even in the winter this place could be very cosy and welcoming. This restaurant is definitely worth a try, I hope that you will enjoy it.

Number 16 : S.p.i.c.e of Thailand (Kungstorget)

This was the 3rd Thai restaurant I have visited so far... and sad to say it probably comes in as my least favourite of the lot.

The food was OK, but in the case of my dish the balance between raw vegetables and cooked food was too uneven. I like vegetables but when more than half of your plate is filled with them it makes you question in your mind if they have given you the right dish or not. I also found that my tofu was undercooked, although brown on the outside it was very white and bland on the inside.

The service was friendly and efficient. Our food was on our table within 5 minutes of ordering it, which although extremely quick probably explains why everything was on the raw side. The restaurant did not really have am authentic Thai feeling to it although a window seat gave a nice view over the river and across towards Kungsparken. The cost of the meal was reasonable and you could get an "Afterwork" special for a very reasonable price or choose from the set menu for an average price.

Number 15 : MoonThai Kitchen

MoonThai Kitchen is one of those places where you get a full dining experience. Some restaurants you go to and in all honesty apart from the different styles of food you could be sitting at any table in any restaurant in the world. MoonThai Kitchen is a place you will definitely remember. The restaurant is set out as you might find it in Thailand. All the tables and chairs have this hand built feeling and there was lots of bamboo everywhere. Thai prints and plants adorn the walls and the restaurant was really cosy and well thought out.

The menu was easy to understand and listed foods in different price ranges from cheap through to expensive. The service was friendly as well and the staff seemed happy and attentive, taking time to talk about the food and to check everything was to my satisfaction. The food was fresh and tasted good and there was a good drink selection with a nice range of cocktails.
If you like Thai and you want something different I would really recommend going here. It was very busy though so it is probably best to book if you want a table.
