Number 14 : El Corazon

As to why I went to a Spanish restaurant and ate pizza is a question I have had a few times since my visit to El Corazon.
I think the most fair thing to do though would be to ask the restaurant why they have pizzas on their menu. In any-case I can happily say that a Spanish pizza is a good pizza and the ingredients that you wouldn't normally find on an Italian pizza make it definitely something to try. I have always been a big fan of Spanish cheeses and many of the dishes at this restaurant seemed to be authentic and true to the region.

There was of course more than pizza to choose from and the restaurant in itself was quaint and nicely set out.  The waitress was friendly and talkative and the menu easy to read and with a broad selection. There was also the possibility to sit outside in a covered area which if the temperature had of been in to double figures could have been nice. The food seemed be freshly cooked and you can see in to the kitchen as well and observe as your food is being prepared, always a plus in my book.

Number 13 : Tranquilo

South American food was on the menu this warm April evening. Situated in the heart of Gothenburg, Tranquilo is perfectly close to Avenyn. For the first time on my travels this year there was the opportunity to eat outside, all the seats were taken though by Gothenburg residents getting a rare blast of sunshine, so eating inside was the order of the day.

The menu was exciting... a good selection, all presented on one side but still more than enough choice to cater for a variety of tastes. The picture of my food doesn't really do it justice but it tasted great and the plate had a variety of flavours.

The restaurant was cosy and social. On two floors, the tables were laid out close together but cleverly enough to give a social feeling rather than a cramped one. A well stocked bar in the middle with an expansive cocktail menu was the focal point and the restaurant was a blend of people coming in for a meal and those just popping in for a snack or a drink. The clientele all seemed to be on the younger side, luckily age is still on my side so I fitted perfectly in.

The one downside was the service. The restaurant staff seemed more focussed on socialising and talking with each other than seeing to guests. This meant waiting a long time to be seated and then for the order to be taken.  Otherwise though a nice fun place and on the whole a pleasant evening.

Number 12: Star of India

Close to the Central Station, in the heart of the city... perfect for a quick Indian meal if you are passing through and have time to spare in wait for a train.

The food was good, the service though was unenthusiastic. It wasn't rude and it wasn't unfriendly but I didn't really get the friendly welcome that I have experienced in other places I have visited so far.

The food I enjoyed a lot and the menu was well set out and easy to understand. The restaurant was spacious and fresh and with Indian classics playing softly in the background the ambiance pleasant. A good place to with go with either a large of group or with just a few people. The food arrived promptly and seemed freshly prepared. I think in general I would describe this place as average, however it was certainly good enough for a night out and is a place you could easily sit and relax in with friends for a few hours.
