Number 13 : Tranquilo

South American food was on the menu this warm April evening. Situated in the heart of Gothenburg, Tranquilo is perfectly close to Avenyn. For the first time on my travels this year there was the opportunity to eat outside, all the seats were taken though by Gothenburg residents getting a rare blast of sunshine, so eating inside was the order of the day.

The menu was exciting... a good selection, all presented on one side but still more than enough choice to cater for a variety of tastes. The picture of my food doesn't really do it justice but it tasted great and the plate had a variety of flavours.

The restaurant was cosy and social. On two floors, the tables were laid out close together but cleverly enough to give a social feeling rather than a cramped one. A well stocked bar in the middle with an expansive cocktail menu was the focal point and the restaurant was a blend of people coming in for a meal and those just popping in for a snack or a drink. The clientele all seemed to be on the younger side, luckily age is still on my side so I fitted perfectly in.

The one downside was the service. The restaurant staff seemed more focussed on socialising and talking with each other than seeing to guests. This meant waiting a long time to be seated and then for the order to be taken.  Otherwise though a nice fun place and on the whole a pleasant evening.

Would I go back here? Yes, definitely a few more cocktails I would like to try.
